weekend in little rock

This weekend we headed up to Little Rock for a little survey trip. This was probably our last chance to go before new babies and Chad's schedule. We won't be officially living in Arkansas until 2011. We left Friday morning and hit this about 20 minutes into the trip-

The pretty sky above it all was picked up by the camera, but we couldn't see it ourselves. We drove right under that big nasty cloud and it got really really bad! It made our trip drag out a bit because we were driving so slow because it was hard to see. Thankfully, it was over by the time we hit Mississippi. We crossed into Tennessee briefly and as we were leaving Memphis bright sunny skies awaited us.

Neither of us had ever even been to Arkansas... here we are! How about there's a whole lot of NOTHING inbetween Birmingham and Little Rock (with the exception of Memphis) - sometimes we didn't even see a gas station for miles. We finally rolled in to Little Rock and got our first glimpse of the skyline as we crossed the river-

We checked in to our hotel and went downtown to the River Market for dinner. We spent the evening driving around trying to learn the roads!

Saturday we met up with our realtor and spent pretty much all day driving around checking out the different parts of town. We were so tired after being in the car. We had hoped to go to the Clinton Library that afternoon but we ran out of time. That will have to be on our to do list for next time. I loved the river being so close and all the bridges.

We still have a ways to go before we find our new home, but for now we found a few pounds-

We went to church Sunday morning and headed back home. It was such a quick trip but we know a lot more about Little Rock now than we did before. This will definitely help with the house hunt. We missed Harper so much and couldn't wait to see her! She was tuckered out from her fun weekend with the grandparents and slept in a little bit today. Not much has changed since we left her... Still teething... her hands are in her mouth constantly! Even inbetween bites of food. Poor thing. Hopefully these pesky teeth will hurry up and get here!

WOW!!! In looking at the b/w picture of the city and bridge....that looks JUST like Pittsburgh.

I want that ice cream. Skylar is kicking at the thought. :)

Purple might not be my favorite color, but I would eat any ice cream that looked THAT good! Glad y'all had a good time and made it home safely.

i am so so glad you got to make this trip just to get to know the city. its really hard to buy a house when you don't know a thing about all the "parts of town". so glad you have a little time to make this transition.
